NEW WESTMINSTER, BC – To help address overcrowding around the region, TransLink is announcing modest frequency increases to bus service on 47 routes this fall. These short-term improvements are possible through the 2024 Investment Plan.

Fall Service Changes highlights:

  • Increases on 21 busy routes in Surrey, North Delta, and Langley.
  • Increases on five bus routes serving UBC, SFU, and Capilano University in time for back-to-school.
  • A new bus bay at White Rock Centre, which serves 13 routes, to increase capacity at the bus loop.

Additionally, Route 609 will be extended from sc̓əwaθən məsteyəxʷ/Tsawwassen First Nation to Ladner Exchange, providing more efficient connections and increased frequencies. This service change demonstrates TransLink’s ongoing commitment to reconciliation and providing more equitable access to on-reserve communities and treaty lands.

While service is being increased in some areas, these changes do not address the rapid ridership growth and increased demand being seen across Metro Vancouver.

The unfunded Access for Everyone Plan is essential to reduce critical strains on the transit system. TransLink will continue working with government partners to secure a new funding model that supports long-term regional transportation growth.

Fall Service Changes take effect on September 2, 2024. Go to translink.ca/servicechanges for complete route details.
