TransLink PrideBus brings Metro Vancouver 'Together Again'
Rainbow-coloured bus back in service ahead of Pride Parade
July 25, 2022
VANCOUVER, B.C. – Summer is about to get more fabulous with the return of TransLink’s PrideBus for the upcoming Vancouver Pride Festival. This year’s vibrant bus has a brand-new rainbow wrap and is back in service starting today until the end of summer.
The PrideBus, along with TransLink employees, will be marching in the 44th annual Vancouver Pride Parade on July 31 to celebrate and support our LGBTQAI2S+ communities. Our team will also be handing out our popular Pride fans to help festival attendees beat the heat.
“We’re overjoyed to be participating once again in the Vancouver Pride Parade and look forward to celebrating our city’s wonderful diversity,” says TransLink CEO Kevin Quinn. “We encourage everyone to take transit to the Pride Festival, knowing it's safe, reliable, and the easiest way to get around during the events."
To ensure customers have safe and reliable transportation options, TransLink is boosting service and adjusting some bus routes due to street closures during this weekend’s Pride celebrations.
TransLink will increase Expo and Millennium Line service between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. for the Pride Parade on July 31. Extra buses will also be added at Burrard Station and Lonsdale Quay.
"We work hard to make the Vancouver Pride Festival accessible," says Vancouver Pride Society Interim Executive Director Lee Keple. "We’re glad to partner with TransLink to make our sites more accessible for our communities. Keep an eye out for TransLink's PrideBus out on the streets of Vancouver during our festival!"
Some bus service will be rerouted for the Pride Parade. As a result, there will be limited service to the west side of downtown Vancouver and customers should plan for extra travel time. There will be no bus service along Robson Street, Denman Street, or Beach Avenue.
