How to Join Volunteer Team
Ensure you meet the requirements.
Participants in the Community Transit Volunteer Program are required to:
Be at least 18 years of age.
Be able to attend the interview and training session.
Provide two references (one of which needs to be a professional reference).
Complete a Police Information Check (including a vulnerable sector check).
Be fluent in English, other languages are considered an asset.
Be able to commit to a minimum of 12 months of volunteer service, and volunteer 1 shift per month.
Be available to work weekdays, weekends and some statutory holidays.
Complete an application.
Please fill out our online application as completely as possible, as this will help us get to know you.
Once the application is submitted, you will receive an email confirmation and a request to submit your resume.
All resumes submitted will be reviewed, resumes that meet the hiring criteria will receive an invitation for an online interview.
Attend a Volunteer Interview.
Applicants who have been invited for an interview will meet with 2 interviewers online.
Applicants who successfully pass the interview, will be contacted by the recruiter for 2 references.
Background Checks (Reference Checks and Police Information Check).
Recruiter will reach out to references provided, if the applicant successfully passes both reference checks, then the applicant will be asked to get a Police Information Check (including a vulnerable sector check).
Applicant will submit the results of the Police Information Check to the recruiter. If the results of the Police Information Check are negative, then the applicant is invited to join the Volunteer Program.
Attend Volunteer Training.
Volunteer Training sessions are scheduled to be attended in person. This is required to be accepted into the program. Volunteers are expected to complete all training required before they can start signing up for volunteer shifts.
