Community Transit Volunteer Program

Make a difference in your community by volunteering with the new Community Transit Volunteer Program. Volunteers will be stationed outside the fare paid zone at transit hubs to support to our customers – whether they’re new or have been travelling with us for years – to help make their experience travelling on our system the best it can be.

Main volunteer tasks are greeting customers, sharing information and creating awareness of TransLink projects and programs, answering customer questions and helping direct customers during busy community events.

Knowledge of the transit system, communities and providing transit information at tourist locations and transit hubs such as YVR and Port of Vancouver is a benefit. Skills being sought for the available roles are:

  • Friendly, outgoing, and welcoming demeanor

  • Ability to navigate the internet via smartphone

  • Commitment to customer care

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Language skills are an asset along with passion for transit and their community

  • Leadership development and experience will be considered an asset for future job applications and references

Volunteers will be provided with a one-day training course to provide them with all the tools they require to fulfill their volunteer role as part of Metro Vancouver’s premier transit system. Volunteers are eligible to receive the following perks:

  • TransLink branded polo shirt and jacket

  • Backpack

  • Transit incentives

  • Recognition events

Volunteer shifts will be scheduled on weekends, holidays, and evenings when community events and high volume tourist activity are scheduled. Shifts will be approximately 3-4 hours long.
