Community Transit Volunteer Program
Make a difference in your community by volunteering with the new Community Transit Volunteer Program. Volunteers will be stationed outside the fare paid zone at transit hubs to support to our customers – whether they’re new or have been travelling with us for years – to help make their experience travelling on our system the best it can be.
Main volunteer tasks are greeting customers, sharing information and creating awareness of TransLink projects and programs, answering customer questions and helping direct customers during busy community events.
Knowledge of the transit system, communities and tourist locations is a benefit. Skills being sought for the available roles are:

Excellent communication skills

Language skills are an asset along with passion for transit and their community
Volunteers will be provided with a one-day training course to provide them with all the tools they require to fulfill their volunteer role as part of Metro Vancouver’s premier transit system. Volunteers are eligible to receive the following perks:

Volunteer shifts will be scheduled on weekends, holidays, and evenings when community events and high volume tourist activity are scheduled. Shifts will be approximately 3-4 hours long.

How to Join Volunteer Team
Ensure you meet the requirements.
Be at least 18 years of age
Be able to attend the orientation session and interview
Provide two references
Complete a Police Information Check
Be fluent in English
Be able to commit to a minimum of 12 months of volunteer service
Complete an application.

After completing and saving an online profile, you will receive a confirmation email with an attached References form.
You will need to complete the reference form and upload it to your online profile.
Please note: we keep applicants in our database for a maximum of 12 months.
Attend a Volunteer Information Session.
Once you have filled in our online application you will be sent information about our next Volunteer Information Session.
You are required to attend this session in order to be able to have a Volunteer Interview.
At the session you will have the chance to learn about the Volunteer Program, as well as ask any questions you may have.
Attend a one-on-one Volunteer Interview.
After you have attended a Volunteer Information Session, we will set up a Volunteer Interview with a member of the volunteer recruitment team.
Attend Volunteer Training
Volunteer Training sessions are scheduled online and in person February-April.
